Growth Mindset: Week 13

I feel that I utilize Growth Mindset in many aspects in my life. One particular instance that I can think of which is non-academic is playing music. I have played guitar since I was 14. I have also taught many people to play guitar. In my experience, most people want to simply learn a song from only memory alone. This is understandable since this gives them the instant satisfaction of playing and sounding good. However, this is the least efficient way to learn how to play because there is no real learning taking place. It is much more beneficial to first learn a foundation of music (a musical alphabet essentially). Of course, this takes more time, but it will allow the individual take their established foundation and utilize for anything melody of their choice later down he road. I feel that this appraoch implements the growth mindset since it is based upon the making the process a priority and focusing on the components.
