Wikipedia Trail: Fixed Stars

Image
I found the topic of fixed stars on the Twitter stream, which is very thought provoking. I have always been interesting in the cosmos, so I had to follow a wikipedia trail regarding this. You can find the link by liking on the title of the topic. Fixed Stars : A fixed star is described to be the background of astronomical objects that do not appear to move relative to each other in the night sky. Fixed stars include the Sun. Galaxy : A galaxy is a gravitational bound system. I did not know this before. It is simply where the gravitational pull of a certain jurisdiction rules, before another does. This transitions well into black hole. Black Hole : A black hole is a region of spacetime who's gravitational pull is so strong that nothing, not even light or electrons can escape it. They are expected to form when massive stars reach the end of their life cycle and implode. SUPER INTERESTING! Neutron Star : A neutron star is the collapsed core of large star. Neutron stars are the...

Reading: Narayan Part D

Image
This was the only story that I got to read from this week :(. This part of the passage open as a plea for peace, which is impeded by Duryodhana. After Karna can't be convinced to abandon Duryodhana, Kunti warns of an attack. This part of the story transitions into a the war. I feel that this part of the story involves many persuasion attempts (Arjuna beggins Krishna not to slay Bhishma, among many others). This adds an element of mystery in my opinion. One question that I kept asking myself, maybe I missed it in the last reading. Is whether Krishna is limited into what he can manifest himself to be. Otherwise, he could be even more a pivotal piece of the war, much earlier in the battle. I would really like to expand on something like this in my story. I would make Krishna the integral piece of the story, but it would be only be interesting if others possessed a similar or equal magnitude type of power. This will maintain balance, which I h...

Review: Week 7

Image
My favorite announcement this week is that next week will be a review. From the announcement, it seems like a refreshing change of pace before we get back to the reading. Plus, Mrs. Gibbs informed me that we will soon be returning to one of the stories that I really enjoyed in the first couple weeks! Its going to be a good next couple of weeks.                                                                                                          Review Anyone??

Learning By HEART: Time Management, Week 7

Image
I read an article entitled: 11 Ways Unsuccessful People Mismanage Their Time . This article describes how in many way a certain list of bad habits contribute to people's lack of success. I thought this article was very insightful and I learned to stay away from the many pitfalls that could make me unsuccessful. One thing that I knew was that procrastinating was the enemy to success in every measure! That's college 101 and pretty any other goal you may have. One thing that I learned was that people who don't utilize their weekends could be setting themselves up for failure. I thought was interesting, but it makes sense. Juggling too much can make event he easiest work haphazard. Lastly, one thing that made me curious was "not having rituals" could be a bad habit. Thus, I went to investigate this and was led down a wikipedia wormhole! But it was all in the interest of learning. Simply put, just form good habits!                     ...

Growth Mindset: Week 7

Image
I haven't used a growth mindset cat yet, so I felt it was appropriate to finally do so. Along with learning about growth mindset, I recently read an article about allowing yourself to take breaks and making realistic/gradual strides in your academic progress. This approach is the most efficient way to handle school. Thus, I felt that this was a solid mantra.                                                                                                       Growth Mindset Cat Meme

Famous Last Words: Week 7

Image
These are my famous last words for the seventh week of the course. First of all, I can’t believe that it is already the seventh week. This semester is almost half way over and that makes me wonder where the time goes because I’ll be graduating in the spring!!! This is pretty exciting. But anyway, I did two readings this week. I did the initial reading during the week on Tuesday. Then, I took advantage of the extra credit reading assignment, so it was like I did both. Next week, I hope that I can do both assigned readings during the week and do the extra credit as well. This will keep me on pace for an A in the course. Moreover, I really enjoyed the readings. Not that I didn’t like the last book, but I enjoy this book a lot more. The stories seem more fluid to me, making it easier to read. This is a plus, considering these stories can sometimes be hard for me to understand. However, like I said, I have really got into this book. Furthermore, it was nice to read some...
