Back up and Review: Week 11

My favorite announcement this week its that there will be more extra-credit offered. I enjoy those assignments they are offered over a large span of time!

    Hi Ruben, the idea with this assignment is to look through the week's announcements and find something new; there's an extra credit item every day in the announcements, and I think you've noted that before. If you are going to do this assignment, please read through the announcements and find something new, not something you already know about. :-)

For this week's Learning Challenge, I read an article about sleeping. The article is entitled Data Reveals How Some College Students Sleep . The article was written with the interest of how sleeping conditions may affect learning. In essence, the study followed the sleeping habits of college students aged from 18-22 and tracked certain conditions. One things they found was students aren't that sleep deprived. The average student in this study clocked in 7 hours and 3 minutes of rest a night. I can honestly say that this was something that was confirmed for me. And if you've ever lived in a fraternity, you would have a really hard time believing it was shy of that number. Something that I learned from this study was that women go to bed and wake up earlier than men. Although, this makes a lot of sense. The two are probably correlated. Feedback Strategies

I really appreciated both articles that I read. The “Differencebetween Praise and Feedback” article was really interesting. I feel like it tackled the issue of parents simply throwing blind compliments at children and instead taking the time to give context their comments. The main takeaway was become more involved and interactive with children. This could be more beneficial than vague praise statements. The other article I read was “Presence Not Praise.” It dealt with the issue of praise possibly being toxic, especially if the praise was simply directed toward accomplishment and not toward the effort. To answer to the questions from the post, I always try to give feedback every time I get the chance, because I know how much I appreciate feedback. Famous Last Words: Week 11

It has happened folks! I have finally written another story and I hope everyone gets a chance to check it out. I read more stories than I did last time so that I could decide on which one I wanted to make a rendition of. After I finally decided, it really wasn’t that tough to finish. It obviously took some time, but I since I had found a story that I liked, the writing came pretty naturally. I think that is what I like about epics. These types of stories are almost inviting when it comes to making embellishments. Perhaps that is one of the reasons these stories have had so much longevity. Also, I really enjoyed the writing process with this one. After reading a lot of my classmates’ stories, I got a lot really good ideas. Moreover, I think I was more inspired than anything else.
