Week 8 Comments and Feedback
Overall, I have been very pleased with the level interaction this course allows. I feel that this course offers a very unique structure in the way that it promotes students commenting on one another work and engaging in others posts in general. I have seen much of the feedback that has been commented on my work and I have found it to be very encouraging. And one thing that makes this course different from many other online courses in the fact that the structure of the course is already in place, so if a student wants to utilize any constructive criticism offered by another, they can simply do so next week during a similar assignment. Also, I feel that the fact that this class encourages feedback allows students to take ownership over their blog, since they know other students will be viewing it. It makes the assignment of more consequence and not seem like busy work. Furthermore, I have tried to leave comments on many of the other students pages that comment on a vast amount of things that I notice about their page, their writing style, my interpretation of the story and how I felt about theirs. Moreover, introduction posts and other posts of that nature allow the reader to have more context over the writer and also promote ownership as I mentioned earlier. In the past, I have said that online courses have a tendency to become cold with respect to student interaction. However, in whatever field you are pursuing, you are going to deal with people at some point or another. Thus, it is essential to be able to discuss the things you are doing and learn to give a receive feedback. So I think this has been a very useful tool. In essence, I would rate my experience of the interaction in this course as very high quality. In the future, I am going to keep trying to give productive and constructive feedback, like the kind of feedback that I would want to receive. I will make an attempt to utilize the feedback tools that I learned from an extra credit assignment that I completed to learn about giving and being receptive of the best kind of feedback.
