Topic Research: Gods and Devas
I chose to do a story about the gods and devas so I did my research on that.
First, I found a list of the gods and goddesses: List Link
-Resource Link
To begin, most of the stories that I have ever heard about gods/goddesses have always been very dramatic so I would like to steer in that direction. Unrelated, I noticed that Vishnu was associated with Rama, who was in our reading, so this caught my eye. I might have to find a way to introduce this into my stories.
Moreover, I learned that in Hinduism many of the gods represent "forces of nature" or "moral values. So I thought that could find some sort of conflicting value that needs to be resolved between the gods.
In addition, from what I was taking away, some of the gods have half-siblings called asuras. I thought this was interesting. I can see myself creating a story of a power struggle between the asuras and their counterparts, the auras. I can imagine a interesting story where they are pitted against one other for supremacy.
Lastly, I guess that I never knew what an avatar was, according to my source, it represents a diety on Earth. I would like to tell a story perhaps about an average person who makes friends with an avatar unknowingly. I think this would be a fun plot. I think its pretty obvious that the human would have to receive some benefit from his new friend, but I it sounds like fun to write.

Hey Ruben!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are pretty set for your project. The Gods and Devas could really make for an interesting storybook or portfolio depending on what you choose! I liked the idea of how one of the ideas could be over how the you could write stories to solve conflict between the Gods. I also really like the power struggle between the Gods and Asuras, it sounds like I really just like your idea! I do not really have any criticism, but rather a suggestion for another subsection of ideas that you could write about. Perhaps you could create new Gods or Devas for natural phenomena or give new or revamped back stories to some of the current ones. Regardless, it will be interesting!
