Growth Mindset: Week 11
One of my quotes was titled “New Learning Strategies” and
the other is titled “Imagine Your Goal.”
“I tend to focus mainly on my memorization which can
sometimes only be for a little period of time. I need to find better ways to
study in order to truly learn something and be able to apply it in a multitude
of ways in order to try use my education for the betterment rather than just
trying to get a grade.”
“Sometimes when you run into an obstacle and you get pushed
back, you start to forget why you were trying so hard in the first place so it
helps to take a step back and imagine your goal.”
Both quotes were interesting to me because I feel that a lot
times people think success can simply be attributed to will power. But there’s
also a psychological aspect to success. Both of these quotes touch on a conceptual
aspect. The first one is obviously talking about growth mindset, which is an
attitude in my opinion. But it can play a really big factor in your success. In
fact, I would say that the most successful people utilize this type of mindset even
if they don’t know exactly what it is called. And it is very powerful for just
being a way of thinking. Secondly, imagining one’s goal is also very important
in the path to success. It’s so easy to get distracted, but what’s more is that
it is even easier for one’s to become fuzzy. After working really hard toward a
goal, your priorities can become hazy. That is why I have found that it is
important to always have your primary goal written down so that you never lose
track of it. From then on, you can make all your decisions in service of that
goal. This helps you stay focused on envisioning or imagining your goal.
I really like the second quote. I can relate to this all to well that when you have a goal that you're fighting for so long you forget why it mattered so much. That's when you really do have to step back, relax, and remind yourself of your goal. As you said, writing it down would be a great help. I also agree that successful people utilize this mindset though they might not know it's an actual "thing." The main thing about growth mindset to me is you have to remain positive and look forward instead of backwards. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHey Ruben!
ReplyDeleteThese were both really good quotes! I really relate to the second one. Often times, I think I get so caught up in doing something and finishing, that I forget why I even started. So it is definitely important to step back sometimes and look at what it was you were aiming for. I think that really speaks volumes!
