Hyena Perspective of the Timid Rabbit, Week 2 Story

Image
THIS STORY IS NOW APART OF MY PORTFOLIO My name is Bruce, I am a wild hyena. If there is one thing I can tell you about the wild, it’s that everyone is real cliquey. The elephants and the giraffes are good friends, the monkeys and lions love each other and so on. So not too long ago, I struck up a deal with the monkeys that we could split any fruits that I found, if they would let me know when they see a rabbit I could hunt. Everything was going great until I found myself a little extra hungry one day, so I ate all the fruits that I found, breaking our deal. Simply put, I think I just tend to get a little greedy when I’m hungry. But anyway, the monkeys were ticked at me after that. However, I didn’t think much of it until one day I spotted a rabbit who looked like he was in a deep thought under a palm tree, which was a perfect time for me to ambush him. Ill remind you that I hadn’t eaten in days, so I was thrilled. I began to creep up closer to him. Then, all the sudden

Reading Notes:The Foolish, Timid Rabbit

Stampede Running while the Earth is Breaking The Foolish Timid Rabbit: I  read the The Foolish, Timid Rabbit. I really enjoyed the simply approach and I actually even chuckled while reading. I tried to keep in mind the things that I wanted to bring to table if I were the writer. I would want to utilize the simplicity used in this story. In addition, I would almost definitely use personification to give my characters predisposed characteristics, as was used in this story. For example, it was obvious the lion would be brave. Also, I really enjoyed how the story was resolved in way that highlighted the the braveness of the lion to face the fears. For instance, when it says, "if not for the wise lion, they might still be running," it really resonated with me. In conclusion, I feel that I would want to write a story similar to this one, it really intrigued me.

Reading Options

The Ramayana: A Shortened Modern Prose Version of the Indian Epic : I feel that I would want to begin with this since it is the introduction and I would to build a thorough foundation to expand upon while learning these characters. Paley. Sita Sings the Blues : From the comments and plot commentary, this piece seems very sincere, yet playful. I think that I would really enjoy this. In addition, I really relate to the use of music. On an unrelated note, the video graphics seem to make it a real fun watch. A Magician Outwitted : This piece looks to be a real compelling story. It has plenty the ingredients that hold my intrigue in stories of this category: magic, kidnapping, rescue, trickery, disguise and redemption.                                                                                 Illustration from A Magician Outwitted

Time Strategies

I am really excited for this semester. I feel that I will be able to utilize an appropriate schedule that will support my academic success. Moreover, the article that I've read really aligns with my natural routine. I try to set forth small short term goals and complete them within the day before I can have leisure time. I read "3 steps to recapture time." Essentially, it highlights the importance of being organized. It is important to develop a few obtainable and realistic goals that should be met within a certain amount of time you've predetermined. While this advice helps to not over exert yourself, it makes you hold yourself accountable for predetermined tasks. Furthermore, the article suggests that there is a time for business and a time for leisure, just make sure that those times are both allotted for in advance. And try not to stray too much from your schedule.

Technology

Image
Truth be told, I am not tech savvy at all, so the technology seems a bit daunting. However, I am sure that I will get the hang of it as long as I usher it in gradually. Moreover, I am very unfamiliar with the technology we will be using in this course. But I have learned a great deal already and I am looking forward to learning more. And as I have mentioned in a previous post, I feel like this course offers an innovative type of interface that is simply not feasible in other courses. Thus, there is a very special opportunity to learn new things while completing assignments. In closing, I really need to improve my tech skills, so hopefully this class aids with that, while I am also learning the curriculum.                                                                Me right now

Assignments

Initially, I was very caught off guard with the approach. However, I am now beginning to enjoy the unorthodox style of interface. I am most intrigued by writing stories, since I enjoy being creative. Moreover, I am excited to get a chance to earn extra credit by being social, I find myself interacting with my peers regularly anyway. All and all, I feel that this course offers special learning opportunities, with respect to the interface, that aren't feasible in many others.                                                Online class meme

Growth Mindset

Image
Growth Mindset To begin, I have not heard of Carol Dweck before. However, I have heard of this approach with respect to praising effort that children put forth rather than simply guessing the right answer or “innate” intelligence. This can sometimes be owed to different opportunities available to respective children. However, with an especial thank to technology in today’s culture, virtually anyone can excel with hard work. Furthermore, I think that I fell victim to having a fixed mindset as a small child since I was an honor roll student. It was easy and it felt good to apply the fundamental attribution error to my academic progress. But, as I have matured I have learned otherwise. My courses at OU quickly taught me that my “natural” intelligence could only get me so far (which wasn’t very far). Thus, I realized sentiments like the things Carol Dweck expressed. In addition, I have done many case studies with respect to this approach and I fully appreciate and agree

Introduction

Image
Introduction to a Future Med Student My name is Ruben Delacruz and my major is Biochemistry. The most exciting things about my major is that I feel like I will have the opportunity to utilize all the courses that I have taken here at OU in my future occupation. My favorite course last semester was Genetics with Dr. Durica, I really enjoyed myself and I am considering doing some research in that field and my biggest accomplishment last semester was doing well on my MCAT exam. Over the summer, I went to Destin with my family during a short summer intermission I had from Biochemistry with Dr. Najar. Despite the ill preparation for the humidity, it went really well. Furthermore, anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with the TV series ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ I practically watch it every day. Moreover, I am very eclectic with my music choices. I play guitar, piano and have composed two albums. In fact, while I love Biology, music is my life’s first passion. Also, I
